Now that we've caught a breath of fresh air and a moment to recover from alternative methods of learning, also known as Quarantine Homeschooling, we can begin to indulge in summer! Wait.....what? My kid(s) are still home! I know some of you are wrapping your minds around your kids being at home until August and ways to keep them entertained without being in front of a screen. I also know summers are a time for family, memories, swimming, and relaxing. So if you're looking for a rainy day activity or just some boredom busters, have no fear! I got you covered! Check out my blog each month for monthly activities to help you bust the rainy day drag, make memories with your little ones, and cherish the moment with some family fun. Build a Backyard Obstacle Course
Construct a backyard obstacle course with hula hoops, jump ropes, sticks, stones, hoses, and other materials from around the house. Your kids can take turns completing it—and the person with the fastest time wins a prize!
Water Cup Races
You’ll just need cups, something to make a hole (like a small screwdriver or other sharp object), string, and maybe some tape.
Cut or punch a hole into the bottom of the cup (I made mine close to the edge as opposed to right in the middle since the cup is resting on the string). Put the cup on the string through the hole and attach the string to posts or tape to a wall outside.
Use your water guns or other water squirting toy to get the cup to move to the other end. Unless your gun is super powerful you’ll need to pay attention to the direction of the water (good target practice).
